It is time for The Peaceful Revolution. IN-06

The Peaceful Revolution is about to begin.  We are going to take our country back, and soon we will be at the ballot boxes fighting the first battle in this Peaceful Revolution.
We are going to take our country back from the corporations and make it "for the people" once again.

As in any revolution, there are minor skirmishes leading up to the big battle.  Last Tuesday in Connecticut was one of those skirmishes, there were others last Tuesday.  There have been many others across the country, less publicized, but fought just as hard, and each one sending a tiny message, each win creating a tiny ripple in the pool of change.

We have to peacefully overthrow this government, and replace it with people that want to take us on a different course.  I am trying to be one such person, as I am the Democratic Challenger in Indiana's 6th Congressional District against Mike Pence.  I believe We must be better stewards of our environment, our economy, and our people, Mister Pence believes in saying one thing and voting a different way, forgetting the environment, the middle class, and those of us Americans below that standard.

This nation was born out of Revolution.  Now it is time for Peaceful Revolution and that is done through the political system.  Roughly the same political system created by those that bore this country through that initial Revolution.

Do not get me wrong, I am not comparing myself to any of the founding fathers, but I am saying that there is a group of people that are ready to be the first wave of change in this Peaceful Revolution, and I have to raise the question; how many currently in Washington D.C. are ready to be part of change, and how many want to keep things the same?

We have Howard Dean, our Samuel Adams, and we have Senator Russ Feingold, the only national figure to endorse our campaign, and if that stays the same, I am glad it is his PAC that we were selected by, but how many more Ol' Joe's are out there, or are running now?

I know some that are running for change;

 NC-08    Larry Kissell
VA-Sen    Jim Webb
PA-07    Joe Sestak
PA-08    Patrick Murphy
NJ-07    Linda Stender
NY-State-41 Brian Keeler
CT-Sen    Ned Lamont
NH-02    Paul Hodes
NY-29    Eric Massa
IL-10    Dan Seals
IL-14    John Laesch
TX-21    John Courage
CO-05    Jay Fawcett
CO-06    Bill Winter
MT-Sen    Jon Tester
WA-08    Darcy Burner
CA-11    Jerry McNerney
NV-Sen    Jack Carter
CA-50    Francine Busby

Please add their links in the comments below, or go to 50 State Site and find out just about everything about every race!  Thanks to kossack BENAWU, and others for all of that effort.

There are others ready for change not listed, but these campaigns, and our campaign, are going to be part of Crashing the States so that is why I chose to list them.  (As an aside, for Indiana and mid-nation kossonians, Thursday October 5th, Our campaign is hosting a Netroots Rally to be part of the documentary "Crashing the States," and all of you are invited, mark it on your calendar now, details to come, but probably in Muncie, Indiana.)  So this Revolution may not be televised, but it will be available on DVD!

The candidates are, to some, the front line of the battle, but it is YOU, each one of you reading this now, that is the real front line.

Maybe you are thinking this is bunk, there is no need for a Peaceful Revolution, and if you think that, you are welcome to that opinion.  If you are not thinking that, then it is time to organize, finance, and prepare for battle.  There are many opportunities and any of you are welcome here on our campaign if you have nothing closer to you.
Get active, stay active, and get others active.

The first battle of this Peaceful Revolution will be November 7th, the time to prepare is now.

For those still not convinced, let me add one name. Senator George Allen.
I have seen the video, and heard the excuses, and the excuses, are one thing, and one thing only, LIES!   Why not be a man and say, "I was wrong."  The song and dance just costs more respect on top of what is lost by the racist comment.    This man does not need to be in consideration for President of the United States.   The 2008 President will be the George Washington of this Peaceful Revolution, and that is not George Allen.

It's not 1776, but it could resemble 1974!

This Peaceful Revolution is necessary because of many things, among them; real oversight on the executive branch, and then replacement of the current occupants, bringing the troops home from Iraq, rolling back the tax cuts on the richest of the rich, and listening to the people, instead of telling them.

You say you want a Revolution?

Thankyou, Peaceful Revolution that is done within the political system. What people havn't connected to is that Revolutions (historically) have been to say the least disruptive to civil life. I personally don't want that, and I think it can be done by the rule of law, the ACLU is proving that. The Constitution is wonderful, don't you think?

No information about the Peaceful Revolution would be complete without a lesson from history, in my opinion. From the book "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" by Dee Brown, PP. 441-442:
"Later in the darkness of that December night the remainder of the Seventh Regiment marched in from the east and quietly bivouacked north of Major Whitside's troops. Colonel James W. Forsyth, commanding Custer's former regiment, now took charge of operations. He informed Whitside that he had received orders to take Big Foot's band to the Union Pacific Railroad for shipment to the military prison in Omaha.
After placing two more Hotchkiss guns on the slope beside the others, Forsyth and his officers settled down for the evening...
"The following morning there was a bugle call," said Wasumaza, one of Big Foot's warriors ... "Then I saw the soilders mounting their horses and surrounding us. It was announced that all men should come to the center for a talk and that after the talk they were to move on to Pine Ridge agency. ..Colonel Forsyth informed the Indians that they were now to be disarmed. "They called for guns and arms," White Lance said, "so all of us gave the guns and they were stacked up in the center." The soldier chiefs were not satisfied with the number of weapons surrendered, so they sent details of troops to search the tepees. "They would go right into the tents and come out with bundles (sacred objects) and tear them open," Dog Chief said. " They brought our axes, knives, and tent stakes and piled them near the guns."
Still not satisfied, the soldier chiefs ordered the warriors to remove their blankets and submit to searches for weapons...
The troopers found only two rifles, one of them a new Winchester belonging to a young Minneconjou named Black Coyote... Some years later Dewey Beard (Wasumaza) recalled that Black Coyote was deaf. "If they had left him alone he was going to put his gun down where he should. They grabbed him and spinned him in the east  direction. He was still unconcerned even then. He hadn't pointed his gun at anyone. His intention  was to put that gun down. They came and grabbed the gun that he was going to put down. Right after they spun him around there was the report of a gun, was quite loud. I couldn't say that anybody was shot, but following that was a crash..."
Turning Hawk said that Black Coyote "was a crazy man, a young man of very bad influence and in fact a nobody." He said that Black Coyote fired his gun and that "immediately the soldiers returned fire and indiscriminate killing followed.".."We tried to run," Louise Weasle Bear said, "but they shot us like we were a buffalo. I know there are some good white people, but the soldiers must be mean to shoot children and women. Indian soldiers would not do that to white children."
The Ghost Dance was a Peaceful Revolution, too. If you have figured out how they could have gotten out of that one or prevented it (peacefully in both instances)and can impliment the plan, you'll have the country back.

Re: It is time for The Peaceful Revolution. IN-06 (none / 0)

The talk of the "October Surprise" could be the Democratic Parties 'Ghost Dance'.  You are correct in that there will be many attacks(swiftboats, slime, et al) that will have to be survived.  It is the beginning of taking our country back, it will take time just as history tells us the first one did.

Thanks for adding this reminder, Rabbit!

Re: It is time for The Peaceful Revolution. IN-06 (none / 0)

It is indeed a Revolution, and so far it's seemed to more a more peaceful one then others in the past (most notably during the '60s) so I agree with you there, but I'd have to disagree about the timing, in my mind a Peaceful Revolution is more about what happens outside of elections then during them, don't get me wrong, I totally think that elections are a huge part of it, but I think that the Peaceful Revolution has been going on for close to a year now, or at least since the late winter, and I think the CT-Sen primary was our first indication of what's been happening in backyards and living rooms and online for many months now. If it weren't for the people already having decided they were sick of the direction our country was going then Lamont wouldn't have won the primary.

I think the November elections will be, more then the beginning of the Peaceful Revolution, the turning point in it.

I'm in IN-05, so not in your district, but close to it. I hope to see you win!

P.S. I hope if you win you'll keep posting to MyDD, that'd be great!

Re: It is time for The Peaceful Revolution. IN-06 (none / 0)

Thanks forecaster, and I post more often at Daily Kos than I do here, but I read here all the time.  I will continue to blog if I am elected that is a certainty.

The 5th?  Danny Boy Burton.  He was number 7 on an Abramoff list that I saw a while back, and the party really tried to get a young guy (Mike Clements) on the ballot to take him on, but Katherine Carr prevailed again.
Things are looking good in other places around the district though, even though the 5th is not close.

We had Republican numbers for all of the districts leaked through the Republican state reps to the Democratic state reps, and we couldn't believe them, so some of our staff did some informal calling around this district, and things are looking good.
The 1st and 7th are strong Dem and have double digit leads.
The 2nd has Donnelly up a couple points but losing momentum
The 8th has Ellsworth up by 6 steady
The 9th has Hill up by 9 and gaining
The 6th has us down 7 and gaining
The 3rd, 4th, and 5th are all double digit with the 3rd and 4th gaining.
I don't know if it is true or Republican tactics but that was what we were told.  If it is true, then look for a big push in the 2nd, and the 8th by Republicans.  As for here, Pence is staying home in Virginia and not in the district.

As for te diary;

I agree that the midterms could be a turning point, and I hope they are.  They should be.

You are right, it is not the beginning, it is just time to prepare for the first really big national battle and that is what the midterms are.

We have 424 Candidates and incumbants contesting 435 seats, and it will be 425 when someone gets on the ballot in Dayton Ohio to replace Stephaine.  Some are great candidates flying under the radar, some are ballot fillers that give the die hards some one to vote for, some are favorites to take the seats, and some are sitting congress members.  We also have great opportunities in the Senate.  We are as properly positioned on the ballot as a party as we might have ever been.  This election should indeed be a turning point in the Peaceful Revolution, and yes, it is and has been ongoing.

Thanks for commenting and reading.
